Who This Studio Is For

Built for Families Who Are Serious About Progress 🎯

This studio is a good fit for families who value consistency, practice, and long-term growth — not just showing up to lessons.

Families Who Practise at Home
Real progress happens between lessons, not just during them. Your child has access to an instrument at home and practises regularly.
Families Committed to Long-Term Growth
You want your child to build real skills — step by step, year by year. You're ready to invest in that journey, not just try it for a month.
Families Who Partner with the Teacher
You're open to feedback and willing to work closely with Cristina. For younger children, parents are active participants — not just observers.
What Your Child Will Build

Three Things That Matter Most 🌱

🏗️
Strong Foundations
Ear training, note reading, rhythm, and proper technique are built together from day one. No shortcuts — because every advanced skill depends on getting the basics right.
📅
Consistent Practice Habits
From the very first lesson, children learn what it means to practise — not just play. Structured daily habits built early are the single biggest predictor of long-term success.
📈
Measurable Progress
Parents always know where their child stands and what comes next. Progress is visible — through recitals, grade exams, competitions, and the simple joy of playing something new.
What Makes This Studio Different

Support That Doesn't Stop When the Lesson Does 📲

Between lessons, Cristina reviews practice videos and homework so she can give timely feedback, correct technique early, and keep students on the right path.

Most problems in young students come from small errors repeated hundreds of times at home. By staying involved between lessons, those issues get caught and corrected before they become habits.

This ongoing support is what separates students who progress quickly from those who plateau — and it's a core part of how this studio works.

Piano
The perfect first instrument. Piano builds foundational music theory while developing focus, coordination, and early reading skills — the skills that make everything else easier.

Viola
Viola offers a rich, warm sound and is highly sought after in orchestras. Students with a piano or violin foundation often transition beautifully — and viola players are always in demand.

What Families Are Saying 💬

Real reviews from real families on Google Business.

★★★★★
"It was truly a blessing to have Cristina as our son's first violin teacher for two and a half years. She is not only an excellent teacher but also a wonderful person from whom we learned a great deal. Her sincerity, sense of responsibility, and positive attitude made her teaching truly effective. Even my rather strong-willed son always listened to her and followed her guidance. Thanks to her, he became one of the best violin students at his school and, more importantly, developed a genuine love for the violin. We recommend Cristina 100% without hesitation."

"We felt very lucky to have Ms Huang as the piano teacher for our son. She is very professional and knowledgeable in piano teaching, especially for little kids. She is always very responsive and she customizes the learning courses according to what skill set and knowledge the student needs at different stages. What is amazing is she created her own way in the path suitable for little kids to form a strong foundation. My son loves her a lot! I would definitely recommend her if you are looking for a piano teacher for your kids."

For Parents

Questions Parents Ask 🙋

Everything you need to know before your child's very first lesson.

Does my 3-year-old need an instrument at home right away?
Yes — to make real progress, your child will need access to a piano at home for daily practice. We recommend a full 88-key weighted keyboard at minimum, and ideally an upright or grand piano. If you're not sure where to start, Cristina is happy to discuss rental options that work for your budget. Having the right instrument at home makes all the difference!
How long are lessons for young children?
For ages 3–4, lessons are 30 minutes — perfectly matched to a toddler's attention span. Children aged 5 and older typically do 30–45 minutes per session. Once a student has established a consistent practice routine at home, lessons can grow to 60 minutes — but we never rush that step. It happens naturally when the child is ready.
Should I stay during my child's lesson?
For children under 5, parents are strongly encouraged to sit in on every lesson. Cristina will show you exactly how to supervise practice at home — the right technique, posture, and approach — so your child builds good habits from day one. This matters more than most parents realise: bad habits practiced repeatedly become very hard to undo. You'll always leave knowing the week's assignments, whether that's singing the notes, clapping rhythms, or working on a specific passage — so you can guide home practice with confidence.
My child has never touched an instrument — is that fine?
Absolutely! Complete beginners are always welcome. Starting from zero with young children is our favourite — no habits to undo, and the joy of discovery is pure and wonderful.
Do you offer online lessons?
All lessons are in-person at the Mahwah studio. For beginners and younger children, in-person teaching is essential — proper posture, hand position, and bow hold all require hands-on correction that simply cannot be done through a screen. For students aged 8 and above who have already built a solid foundation, occasional online lessons may be considered. Please reach out to discuss your child's specific situation.
What if my child wants to try a different instrument?
Many children start on piano and later transition to violin or viola — which works beautifully because piano naturally builds the music reading and ear training skills that strings require. Cristina will always guide you toward the path that sets your child up for the most enjoyment and success.
