At ages 3 and 4, music is all about exploration, play, and falling in love with sound. Forget rigid drills — every lesson feels like an adventure, using singing, games, and gentle discovery to build a natural musical foundation.
🖐️
Exploration First
Little hands are encouraged to explore the keys freely — tapping rhythms, discovering high and low sounds, and playing along to familiar songs. No rigid finger positions yet.
🎤
Singing & Imitation (Suzuki)
Children learn music like a language — by listening and copying. We sing melodies together using Solfège (do, re, mi) to naturally introduce pitch before any note-reading begins.
👂
Ear Training Games (Kodály)
Through clapping, jumping, and movement games, children learn to recognise high vs. low notes and simple rhythms — building the ear skills that make everything else easier later.
🎨
Gentle Note Introduction
Once comfortable with singing and playing by ear, we introduce colourful, large-print note charts tied to songs they already love — so reading notes feels exciting, not scary.
🏃
Movement & Breaks
Lessons are paced for short attention spans — with built-in movement breaks, dancing, and fun to keep energy high and focus fresh throughout the 30 minutes.
⭐
Celebrating Every Win
Sticker charts, high-fives, and big celebrations for every small milestone. Positive energy is the engine that keeps young learners coming back with a smile.
🌟 What Makes This Age Group Special
Short and joyful — 30-minute lessons designed for little attention spans, never overwhelming.
Parents are welcome (and encouraged!) to sit in and join the singing and games.
No instrument required at home right away — Cristina will guide you on when and what to get.
The goal is a lifelong love of music, not perfection — every child moves at their own pace.
For children aged 5 and up, lessons become more structured — developing proper technique, expressive playing, and a strong musical vocabulary. The goal is confident, beautiful playing that comes from the whole body, not just the fingers.
🌡️
Warm-Up Every Lesson
Each lesson begins with scales, arpeggios, and finger independence drills — building even strength and control across all five fingers before moving into repertoire.
🤲
Proper Hand & Finger Technique
Students learn correct hand placement, relaxed posture, and finger control through targeted exercises — laying the foundation for effortless, injury-free playing for life.
💪
Arm Weight & Tone Production
A key focus at this stage — learning to use the full weight of the arm and elbow (not just finger strength) to produce a rich, expressive sound from the very first note.
🎭
Expressive Playing
Students explore dynamics (soft vs. loud), articulation (legato, staccato), and phrasing — learning to connect emotionally with the music and tell a story through sound.
🎼
Carefully Chosen Repertoire
Pieces are selected to match each student's level and personality — starting simpler, then gradually introducing more challenging and expressive works as they grow.
🎧
Listening & Analysis
We listen to professional recordings together — discussing how great pianists use arm weight, dynamics, and phrasing to bring music to life. Inspiring and educational!
🌟 What to Expect at This Stage
45-minute lessons for younger students in this group; 60-minute lessons as they advance.
A regular home practice routine is encouraged — Cristina will provide a clear weekly practice plan.
Progress is celebrated at every step — no pressure, just consistent growth and confidence.
Students work toward recitals, where they can share their music with family and friends.
Learning violin or viola is a full-body experience — posture, bow hold, ear training, and musical expression all come together from day one. Lessons are patient, step-by-step, and filled with encouragement for every age and level.
🎻
Getting to Know the Instrument
We start by exploring the parts of the violin or viola — body, neck, strings, bow — and letting students hold and feel the instrument before any playing begins. Tiny sizes available from age 4!
🧍
Posture & Positioning
Correct posture from day one — straight back, relaxed shoulders, proper chin rest placement, and a relaxed bow grip. Good habits now prevent problems (and injuries) later.
🏹
Bow Hold & Bowing Technique
Students learn to hold the bow with relaxed fingers and draw smooth, consistent strokes across open strings — developing an even tone and controlled bow pressure from the start.
🤏
Finger Placement on the Fingerboard
Fingers are introduced one at a time, starting with simple notes and building into melodies and scales. Tape markers on the fingerboard make it easy and confidence-building for beginners.
👂
Ear Training & Pitch Accuracy
Students play melodies, then repeat them back — training the ear to recognise pitch and tone quality. A strong ear is the secret weapon of every great string player.
🎮
Fun Games & Activities
Creative games reinforce technique, rhythm, and theory in a way that feels like play — keeping young students engaged, excited, and looking forward to every lesson.
📖
Basic Music Theory
Note names, rhythm, and sheet music reading are introduced gently alongside playing — so students build both practical skills and musical literacy at the same time.
🗓️
Consistent Practice Routine
Even 10–15 minutes of daily practice makes a huge difference for young string players. Cristina provides a clear, age-appropriate practice plan so families know exactly what to do at home.
💛
Patience & Positive Support
String instruments take time to feel natural. Every lesson is filled with encouragement, celebration of small wins, and the understanding that every child learns at their own beautiful pace.
🌟 Violin vs. Viola — Which to Choose?
Violin — higher, brighter sound. The most popular choice for young beginners. Available in tiny sizes (1/16) from age 3–4.
Viola — deeper, warmer, more mellow sound. A wonderful option for children who want a unique voice, typically from age 5+.
Not sure which to pick? Book a trial lesson and Cristina will help you decide based on your child's size, personality, and musical instincts.
Many students start on violin and discover viola later — switching is always welcome!
